Introduction
Tradition and Development Research Institute (TaDRI) is a non government scientific and technological organization established under the Decision No. 1364/ QD – LHH dated 11 October 2006 by Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations (VUSTA) and the Certificate of Registration of doing scientific and technological activities No. A-571 dated 7 November 2006 by Ministry of Science and Technology.
The core staff members of TaDRI are specialists who have participated in and worked on research and development projects for the past ten years, including prestigious professors, doctors, masters, scientists experienced in a wide range of areas and young members trained both in Vietnam and abroad who show ability, creativity, self-motivation, passion and enthusiasm towards research and development activities .

Missions
Exploit and uphold the values of traditional cultural heritages and indigenous knowledge with an aim at setting the development targets and assisting the social and community development activities.
Offer a range of practical activities for social and community development on the basis of preservation of traditional values, cross-cultural dialogues and mutual cultural respect among social and community groups.

Take positive action to build new culture and community development values which are compatible with the process of industrialization, modernization and international exchange and integration.


Approaches :
Our research and development activities are based on the following approaches
Give priority to providing support to the vulnerable and disadvantaged groups and persons in society through the promotion of sustainable development
Establish mechanisms for the monitoring and protection of cultural values and indigenous knowledge of communities
Strengthen dialogue and cooperation among social groups, including local authorities, unions, associations, non-governmental organizations, communities and others in society to carry out development projects
Promote community participation in sharing a depth of common cares, interests and solving social problems during the development proces
Increase organization's capacity to strengthen civil society and empower people within it
Offer the solutions and recommendations focused on the improvement of policy and investment and development


Responsibilities
Examine a range of theoretical and practical issues relating to the relation between tradition and development in economic, cultural, social and environmental areas.
Design and implement the intervention models, for promoting the sustainable development and with the respect and preservation of cultural values of community and society, and the creation of option values towards the development targets.
Consult, assess, appraise and criticize social issues, projects and policies relating to tradition and development in various regions
Provide scientific and technological services by organizing seminars, training courses, communicaton; disseminating information, knowledge and skills; exchanging experience; improving the capability of individuals, organizations and communities in all of activities related to tradition and development research activities


Action plans:
Our action plans in the next five years will focus on the following areas:
1. Research, exploit and develop traditional values and indigenous knowledge to achieve the objectives of industrialization, modernization, international exchange and integration.
2. Research and foster the cross-cultural dialogue among social and community groups, and develop a cultural model for sustainable development of social and community groups .
3. Research and develop the resources with an aim at solving community and society's problems and improving people's livelihood and living standard, eliminating hunger and reducing poverty; promoting education, health and culture development and preventing social evils.
4. .Enhance the rights of women and children, promote gender-equality and gender - mainstreaming in economic-social development programmes of local authorities and communities.
5. Research and develop a model of care to support older people, promote their role in family and society.
6. Research, intervene and build up a model of family in the stage of industrialization and modernization.
7. Research and intervene to improve the quality, and the supply of public services, promote people's rights to choose, participate and capture different types of public services.
8. Consult, assess and appraise social issues relating to tradition and development fields in various regions.
9. Organize seminars, training courses, communication; improve knowledge, skills and build capacity to help communities to raise the sense of initiative and creativity in solving the local tradition and development issues.
